UC Davis scientists recently received funding to conduct the first comprehensive study of an Indonesian biodiversity “hot spot.” The International Cooperative Biodiversity Group,a program led by the National Institutes of Health,has granted a group of UC Davis researchers$4million to conduct study on biodiversity inthe tropical forests of southeasternSulawesi,an Indonesian island.

Governor proposes additional $65.5 million in UC budget cuts

Watch out UC – the budget cuts aren’t over yet. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger announced a plan last week to slash$132million in funding for higher education in the current fiscal year. The$132million includes$65.5million in cuts to the University of California system and$66.3million to the California State University system.
