Davis collisions crash to a new low

Cheaper gas may not be the only reason to keep driving. Recent data shows traffic collisions have dropped significantly in both the city of Davis and the state of California. The city ofDavis has seen a52percent decrease in the number of collisions since2003. A citywide crash report now includes2007data and Roxanne Namazi,seniorcivilengineer for thecity of Davis,said the reported decreases may have a connection to more recent driving behaviors.

The wheels on the Unitrans buses may go round and round,but a different set of wheelsoncampus has slowed down lately.Adam Shapiro,a third-year clinical nutrition major,is in a wheelchair,and when he wants to get to class in Everson Hall,the uneven pathways are sometimes so rugged that he worries that his chair might tip over.

I will say,however,is that such times have really put my life into a whole new perspective.A poor college student‘s diet has helped me shed the baby fat,rising gas prices have helped me “go green” and my fashion choices as a “recessionista“ (read:Consignment/thrift store shopping) have changed my wardrobe for the better.

Shields Library has plummeted in ranking, funding and capability in
recent years. Previously ranked as high in the American Research Library’s rankings as 24th in 1986, Davis sat at 60th at the end of 2008.
