No. 7 Aggies dominate competition in Bakersfield

The Aggies came into their third weekend of competition looking to live up to their new national ranking. After seeing the way the UC Davis women‘s water polo team performed in Bakersfield,it‘s safe to say it lived up to its No.7ranking. UC Davis dominated the first day of play of the Roadrunner Invitational with convincing victories over both Concordia and Colorado State.

In addition to selecting six new ASUCD senators this week,students will also be asked to weigh in on a controversial new fee increase to establish a “Green Initiative Fund.“ If passed,the measure will require students to pay an extra$4per quarter in fees to ASUCD in order to fund a program that would give students the money to initiate sustainability projects on campus.

Corporate logo could appear on student ID cards

With the possible addition of a U.S.Bank branch in the Memorial Union also comes the possibility of having the bank’s logo on student ID cards. One option still under negotiations between the university and U.S.Bank is the addition of the bank’slogo onthe back ofID cards,which would also give students and faculty the option of turning their IDs into debit cards.
Budget dominates chancellor’s quarterly brown bag chat

Chancellor Larry Vanderhoef spoke Thursday in his second-to-last Brown Bag Chat on topics ranging from financial aid to the University of California retirement plan– but like everything lately,all roads led to the state‘s budget crisis. Despite a recent comment from California Senate President and UC Davis alumnus Darrell Steinberg that the budget is “close“ to being resolved,the financial woes of the University of California will not end soon,Vanderhoefsaid.

The UC Davis gymnastics team scored a season-high191.550last Saturdayin a triangular,but it wasn’t enough to exceed No.4Stanford,No.10Oregon State,or personal expectations. The host Cardinal won the meet with a197.025,and the Beavers followed with a196.600.
