Dachshund owners and lovers alike filled the UC Davis Pavilion for the30th annual Picnic Day Doxie Derby.The derby consisted of15heats and allowed96dachshunds,both standard and mini,to compete for the title of top dog.

College students rack up more credit

A recent report found more college students are using credit cards today than in2004. Eighty-four percent of undergraduate college students have at least one credit card,up from76percent in2004,according to a report released this month by Sallie Mae.

Live from the Chemistry Building at UC Davis, “chemagicians” wowed the audience with their bag of tricks this Picnic Day. UC Davis students enthralled the audience with the power of chemistry via shows like “Brian and Eric’s Shopping Experience” – mimicking popular television networks such as the Discovery Channel and the Food Network. This30-minute show proved that science can be really “cool” by demonstrating various chemical reactions.Did you know that bubbles are a fire hazard? Yes,bubbles.

Instead,the Aggies were on a bus driving up Interstate5,having just lost the tennis match that brought their season to a close a day before. No.56UC Irvine beat UC Davis6-0in the first round of the Big WestConferenceTournament on Friday at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in Indian Wells,Calif.

Women’s lacrosse Junior Britt Farquharson and sophomore Christina Corsa each scored four goals while senior Patrice Clark added a hat trick,helping UC Davis hold onto an11-5halftime lead in a16-13victory over St.Mary’s in non-conference action on Thursday night. The Aggies improve to5-10for the season while the Gaels fall to3-11.
