Cuts hit public safety budget hard

Recent budget decisions will “devastate the county,” said Yolo County Sheriff Ed Prieto. The county has asked Prieto to cut53positions from the Sheriff’s Department budget to bridge a$24million deficit in the county’s general fund for the next fiscal year.Cuts are being made in every county department,but Prieto says the cuts to his department will have an especially painful impact on the county.

Controversial ASUCD election case dismissed

The ASUCD Court unanimously dismisseda complaint questioning the fairness of winter quarter’s ASUCD elections during a pre-hearingon Wednesday. Case46,between plaintiff Chris Ambriz and the ASUCD Elections Committee,centered on a voting malfunction in which the website went down for three and half hours during the election.The Elections Committee extended the voting period by an equal amount of time on Feb.20,the last day of the election.
Aggies take third in first-ever Big West Women’s Water Polo Tournament

The first Big West Conference Tournament didn’t turn out like the Aggies would have hoped. Due to a coin flip placement,No.9UC Davis had to matchup with No.10UC Irvine in the semifinal game – a team that gave the Aggies their only Big West loss during the regular season.
