Over a thousand protest UC and state budgetary decisions

Thousands of students and staff stood sweating in the heat at last Thursday’s faculty and student walkout rally,fanning themselves with picket signs and fliers. By noon,when the rally began,temperatures had reached almost95degrees.But that wasn’t the only reason why students and faculty were sweating.

DeLano’s grocery store coming to Westlake Plaza

After a three-year vacancy,the small grocery spot in Davis‘ Westlake Plaza will be filled. By December2009,the family grocery business DeLano’s will fill the space,in response to the surrounding community’s desire to have a grocery store within walking or biking distance.

Davis postpones tenant fees to boost business

In response to the increasing amount of vacant space available in the Sacramento region,Davis developed a plan to attract new businesses to the area. City Council passed a resolution to defer tenant improvement fees for new businesses.

My cooking section will feature all kinds of recipes and my personal experience trying them out.Cooking is one of my more recent interests so often my recipes will be beginner attempts and new dishes.Expect some of everything,from vegan recipes,to dorm room cooking,to breakfasts to impress,to dishes from around the world.Today’s recipe is for brioche buns that are delicious as burger buns,sandwich rolls,toasted for breakfast with jam,butter,honey,or Nutella or even just plain as a snack anytime!

AAA survey says gas prices will level off

The average California gas price is much lower than the record numbers of last year. In June2008,unleaded gas reached up to$4.61per gallon on average,according to AAA‘s Daily Fuel Gauge Report website. Gas prices were back on the rise this summer but never reached$4per gallon.

Walk-out draws thousands, moves to Mrak

At noon Thursday, thousands of students, staff and faculty filled the east quad to rally support for a system-wide UC walkout; by 1p.m., their numbers and voices had risen and they were marching to Mrak Hall to make their message loud and clear.

UC Davis and BMW to conduct one-year study on electric vehicles
