CD review: The Jacka

Artist: The Jacka

Album: Flight Risk

Label: Siccness.net

Rating: 3

Mob Figaz’ very own Jacka released his fifth solo album entitled Flight Risk on Tuesday. Styles P, Yukmouth, Turf Talk and other notable rap artists are featured on some of the 11 total tracks on this album. The Jacka stays true to his explicit, gangster rapper lyrics while the music changes from listenable to danceable.

Some of the songs, like “Where The Mobsters Are,” have a ’90s feel while other songs, such as “Thinkin’ Of You,” sound more like modern songs you would expect to hear in 2011. “On My Side” is the closest he gets to a club song. The Jacka’s voice sometimes seems a bit monotone, like that of Bay Area rapper Messy Marv, but this album is definitely worth a listen for inquiring minds and curious ears.

Give these tracks a listen: “So High,” “Where The Mobsters Are,” “On My Side”

For fans of: Mob Figaz, J. Stalin, Mistah F.A.B.
