UC Davis scientists have made an important discovery in the field of animal science and ecology,by using mathematical models to explain animal habitats and ecosystems.The study could aid in properly designingcorridors for animal migration.

Consisting of22million acres,alfalfa is the fourth largest crop produced in the United States.Like most crops,there is an ongoingbattle between genetically engineeredproducers and organic producers ofalfalfa. However,a recent study conducted by UC Davis plant scientists suggests that gene flow between GEalfalfaand organicalfalfacan be minimized.

Older blood found to increase infections in hospitalized patients A recent study showed that hospitalized patients who received bloodthat wasmore than a month old were three times more likely to develop infections than those who received fresher blood.

Sacramento State University and multiple other California State Universities haverecentlybeen involved in a project to implement solar panels on buildings in order to drive down energy costs and worktowardusingalternative sources of energy. SacramentoState is working closely with SunEdison,a company that specializes in solar energy information and services throughout the state of California.
