Carrie Underwood’s new album, Play On, exceeds fans’ expectations with a full spectrum of songs. Although she stays true to her country roots, Underwood approaches country style with her own flair with some interesting new songs.
Like her previous albums, Underwood partially self-writes and works with collaborators to produce catchy and smart songs with originality. She extends herself to a wide range: from good country girl to the angry girl who’s been cheated on.
In the true Underwood style, she gives her fans honest but classy music to sing to without crossing the line to trashy. Like her musical style, Underwood’s lyrics and subjects are all over the place, and it’s impossible not to find one that is enjoyable. More than likely, listeners will like the majority of the album.
