California celebrates 20 years of non-smoking laws

Eating in restaurants and traveling on buses,planes and trains was not always a smoke free experience in California.California was the first statein the nation to ban smoking on trains,planes,buses,public buildings,workplaces,restaurants and bars,andthis monththe statecelebrates the20th anniversary of those laws.

Men’s tennis The UC Davis men’s tennis team is the No.5seed at this week’s Big West Conference Tournament.The Aggies will face No.4UC Santa Barbara at3p.m.in Friday’s first round action at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in Indian Wells,Calif. All six Big West teams will take part in the championship.Pacific is the top seed followed by UC Irvine,Cal Poly,UCSB,UC Davis and UC Riverside.Cal Poly and UC Riverside will square off in Friday’s other opening round match.

95th annual Picnic Day to be held Saturday

Picnic Day,UC Davis‘ annual open house,will take place this Saturday with the theme “Reflections:100Years of Aggie Legacy,” in honor of the university‘s centennial celebrations. For its organizers,no theme was more appropriate. “The Aggie legacy is Picnic Day,it’s our oldest tradition– it’s remained a constant throughout UC Davis history,” said Steven D.Lee,publicity chair and a senior political science and communication double major.
