Workin For The Weekend Ah yes, spring quarter. When the nights are short and the skirts are shorter. Generally speaking, the next two to three months will be the most rockin‘ two to the three months of the year. Almost every weekend has something going on that’s either fun to watch, fun to do or fun hear other people tell you about how much fun you seemed to have watching or doing. Here are the obvious standouts in very particular, some might even say chronological, order:

Unlicensed taxi drivers stopped at airport Regional law enforcement officials announced Wednesday they were engaged in an effort to crack down on illegal taxicabs at Sacramento International Airport. “Operation Road Runner,” which concluded this week at the airport, identified two illegal taxi companies operating three unlicensed operators. It also found 19 licensing and regulatory violations, according to a press release. Cab drivers found in violation were ordered to halt operations.

Time to free up that weekend schedule of yours, boys and girls. You have a lot of Aggie athletics to watch. Twelve UC Davis sporting events are on the slate for this weekend, each of which will be played at home. Yes, this is really, really unusual. Probably some kind of a record, too.

The International Relations Student Association (IRSA) is the place to be for students looking for a laid back atmosphere to talk about current events, eat food from around the globe and learn about other cultures. The club organizes weekly meetings and events that range from “coffee and newspapers” where members meet at the International House to discuss current events and politics over coffee to international movie nights at an art deco movie theater in Sacramento.

I’m a pacifist at heart.My aim with this column is to entertain.However,it seems that my Apr.2column “Don’t judge” did offend at least one person by making an unintended jab at an ethnic community.And for that,I’d like to make a couple of clarifications. In the column,I made a flippant remark about “downplaying my heritage” and “straightening the ethnicity out of my hair.” These comments were meant in an entirely tongue-in-cheek manner.Me making fun of myself – all in good humor,right?
