Next up on the schedule for the UC Davis baseball team:the defending World Series champion Philadelphia Phillies. All right,not exactly.You get the idea,though. Coach Rex Peters couldn’t have drawn up a tougher schedule for his club had he tried,especially in the past six series. Over that span,the Aggies have squared off with defending champ Fresno State and three top-25teams (No.6Cal State Fullerton,No.15Cal Poly and No.21San Diego State).

Chancellor Larry N.Vanderhoef held his final dialogue with the Chancellor on Thursday evening in the Activities and Recreation Center Ballroom.The event,which was hosted by the Student Assistants to the Chancellor,was the last in a series of dialogues and brownbag chats Chancellor Vanderhoef has held with the university community during his15-year tenure as chancellor of UC Davis.

Fighting weather that could best be described as dangerous,the UC Davis men’s track and field team chose to play it safe.The Aggies lost to Sacramento State on Friday by their own accord,falling99-94at the Causeway Classic Track and Field Duel at Hornet Stadium.

You’re in debt. I’m in debt. Everyone in this mortgage-saddled, card-swiping, impulse-buying nation is in debt. Our economy is driven by the spending of money not earned, by the focus on short-term gains while taking on conditions that ensure artificial scarcity in the future. This model of debt culture, immediately and unequivocally, must be changed. This change must be internalized at all levels of society to make a world more stable and focused on real value. The specter of indentured servitude must be driven out.

California Energy Commission grants UCD $3 million

UC Davis has been awarded $3 million from the California Energy Commission to lead the California Renewable Energy Collaborative toward finding solutions to better utilize wind, biomass, solar and geothermal energies. Karen Douglas, chairperson of the CEC, said she believes the university to be a quality investment, and the partnership conducive to the commission’s goals.
