HellaCapella is back, and this year it’s bigger than ever.

Students heard a number of buzzwords around the ASUCD Coffee House Wednesday afternoon – platform goals, UC Students Association, allocating funds and transfer student outreach among them.

The Explorit Science Center is selling its Second Street venue. Explorit, a nonprofit in Davis that offers hands-on scientific educational programs to public schools, shut down the public museum on Jan. 30 due to a lack of funding.

There was a soft silence in the crowd of more than one thousand people and then, the curtain rose, the beginning beats of a popular Hindi film song filled the air, and a group of dancers burst onto the stage. Their costumes shimmered in bright blues, shimmering reds and hot pinks as they threw their hands up in the air, twisted in a seductive pose, and began their routine.

The curtains have come down for the second annual Davis’ Got Talent. The talent competition was scheduled for Feb. 26 at the Veterans Memorial Theatre. Auditions were supposed to be held on Tuesday, but a shortage of talent forced the city to cancel the event.
