Women’s Volleyball

Who: UC Davis vs United States Air Force Academy 

Where: Davis, Calif. (home)

When: 10/01

Score: 3-0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-22) (win)

The Aggies swept the previously unbeaten Air Force Falcons in their home match. Davis started off strong in the first set with a balanced offensive and defensive attack, and Gianna Bogan, a first-year communication major, getting five kills. The Aggies crushed Air Force in the first set, and carried that energy into the next two sets. The second set saw both teams going back and forth, with the Air Force leading, going into a media timeout. The Aggies returned with a strong offensive attack, with Ally Chandler, a fourth-year human development major, going on a 5-0 scoring run. The Aggies finished the second set strong and started the third set in the lead until the Air Force went on a 5-0 scoring run to give the Falcons the biggest lead of the match. Davis was determined to win, taking back the lead with three straight points at the end of the set.     

Women’s Field Hockey

Who: UC Davis vs Dartmouth

Where: Hanover, N.H. (away)

When: 10/02

Score: 1-3 (loss)

UC Davis traveled to New Hampshire to go up against the Dartmouth Big Green but ended up falling 3-1. Dartmouth started off strong, scoring early in the first quarter, and followed up with another goal in the second quarter. The Aggie defense held throughout the third quarter, with Addy Collingwood, a second-year business major, saving three shots taken by Dartmouth. The Aggies started the fourth quarter off strong with five shots taken and one goal made by Emma Wood, a second-year chemical engineering major, assisted by Claire Anderson, a second-year undeclared major. The Aggies attempted to stop Dartmouth from scoring for the rest of the game, but the Big Green was able to secure one last goal, securing a 3-1 victory. 

Swimming and Diving

Who: UC Davis, Pacific Invite

Where: Stockton, Calif. (away)

When: 10/02 to 10/03

Score: fifth place (342 points)

The Aggies started their regular season by participating in the Pacific Invite. The Aggies participated in the 1650-yard freestyle, 400-yard medley relay, 100-yard individual medley(IM), 200-yard backstroke, 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard breaststroke, 200-yard butterfly, and the 400-yard relay. The Aggies competed against four other teams, and while they did not participate in the opening night of the invite, they still created waves on the second day. Madison McCormick, a first-year human biology major, placed fourth in the 100-yard IM with a time of 59.51 seconds. Illiana Foth, a first-year neurobiology, physiology and behavior major, finished third in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:23.50. Ella Palmer, a fourth-year economics major, finished fifth in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:06.60. The Aggies had 342 points by the end of the invite, placing them in fifth, ahead of Stanford by 221 points.
