Equestrian

Who: UC Davis vs. South Dakota State

Where: Brookings, S.D. (away)

When: 2/21

Score: 10-9 (win)

The UC Davis equestrian team secured another victory this season, defeating the South Dakota State Jackrabbits 10-9 on Saturday, Feb. 21. Anna Donovan, a second-year psychology major, started the meet off with a point for the Aggies, securing first place in Fences. She was named the meet's Most Outstanding Player (MOP) for her performance. UC Davis secured the remaining three points in the event with other riders on the team, placing second, third and fourth. Despite the Jackrabbits' outscoring the Aggies in Horsemanship, bringing the score 3-2, UC Davis came back fighting for the remaining two events. In Flat and Reigning, the Aggies secured the event wins and points 3-2 and 3-1, respectively, which pushed them to an overall win of 10-9.

Women’s Lacrosse

Who: UC Davis vs. University of Southern California

Where: Davis (home)

When: 2/20

Score: 11-12 (UC Davis loss) 

In a back-and-forth game against University of Southern California (USC), the Aggies were unable to secure a point with their final shot to tie up the game. Despite the Trojans coming out strong and securing two goals within the first few minutes of the match, UC Davis was able to equalize. Both teams traded goals for the remainder of the game; however, the Aggies were just off frame for their final shot of the match, giving USC the victory. Lauren Picardi, a graduate student studying human development, led the Aggies in goals with five total. Jane Fox, a third-year design major, followed close behind, securing three scores and a hat trick in the match. 

Women’s Tennis 

Who: UC Davis vs. University of Nevada, Reno

Where: Davis (home)

When: 2/21

Score: 4-3 (win)

The UC Davis women’s tennis team secured the victory over the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) with a comeback win in the singles points. Despite losing the doubles point to UNR at the beginning of the meet, the Aggies had strong performances in the singles matches. This allowed them to secure the four points needed to win. Polina Marakhtanova, a second-year cognitive science major; Mika Ikemori, a third-year psychology major; Maya Youssef, a fourth-year psychology and political science double major; and Vivian Gallaway, a first-year business major, all placed in the top four spots of the singles matches. These four wins pushed the Aggies to their narrow victory over UNR.
