Men’s Tennis

Who: UC Davis vs. UC Santa Barbara

Where: San Diego, Calif. (away)

Score: 2-4 (loss) 

The UC Davis men’s tennis team travelled to San Diego to participate in the Big West Semifinals. The Aggies were set to play UC Santa Barbara (UCSB) first. UC Davis secured only one of the three doubles matches, which put UCSB in the lead going into the singles matches. The Aggies started the singles matches off strong, with Ivan Savkin, a third-year computer science major, finishing the first singles match with a score of 6-2, 6-1. The teams then went back-and-forth in winning the singles matches. Unfortunately, the Aggies were unable to equalize against the UCSB Gauchos overall, despite winning three out of six singles matches. The Aggies season has now come to an end following this loss in the Big West Semifinals.


Softball

Who: UC Davis vs. UC Santa Barbara

Where: Davis, Calif. (home)

When: 4/25-26

Score: 8-3, 2-1, 0-3 (win) 

The Aggies started off the weekend strong against UC Santa Barbara (UCSB), scoring three home runs in the first inning of the first game and preventing the UCSB Gauchos from scoring. The Aggies proceeded to score five more home runs across the six other innings. The Gauchos only scored in the third and fourth innings. The Aggies continued this energy into the rest of the weekend, with their second game ending in a score of 2-1 and neither team scoring home runs until the third inning. The Aggies scored two consecutive runs in the third and fourth innings, with the Gauchos only scoring in the seventh inning. The Aggies fell in the final game against UCSB, unable to score any home runs. The Aggies stopped the Gauchos from scoring until the fourth inning, then again in the sixth and seventh inning. Following this win, the Aggies are set to travel to San Luis Obispo for their final series of the season. 

Women’s Lacrosse

Who: UC Davis vs. University of Florida

Where: Gainesville, Fla. (away)

When: 4/25

Score: 6-19 (loss)

In the last game of the regular season, the UC Davis women’s lacrosse team lost to the University of Florida, 6-19. Despite starting off the game down two goals, the Aggies continued to fight, scoring six goals of their own. Audrey Carr, a second-year human development major, was the only player for the Aggies to score more than one goal in the match, securing two. Although the game ended in a loss, the team still had some good plays, including those made by the goalkeeper Emily Altshuler, a second-year neurobiology, physiology and behavior major.
