The Aggies have spoken, and the best new business to open in Davis in the last year is Mendocino Farms. The City of Davis welcomed Mendocino Farms on Aug. 26, 2025, located centrally within The Davis Collection. Placed right across from La Rue field and in the same shopping center as Trader Joe’s, it is the prime location for hungry college students any day of the week.
While Mendocino Farms originated in Los Angeles, Calif. in 2005, it quickly expanded all over California, Texas, Colorado and Washington. It currently has more than 80 locations across those five states.
Mendocino Farms’ tagline, “Eat Happy,” can be seen through their menu, which highlights farm-fresh chef specialties, sandwiches, salads, soups and drinks, as well as the wellbeing of workers and the welcoming atmosphere of the restaurant.
Mendocino Farms provides plenty of healthier choices for those who want a quick meal, while also offering selections packed with protein; its menu has something for everyone.
“Mendocino Farms is da bomb.com; the avocado and quinoa superfood ensalada is definitely a favorite of mine,” Rachel Larson, a third-year chemistry major, said.
The franchise includes a “Fan of the Day” program, which allows the company to give back to the community and those who continually support Mendocino Farms. The regulars who get to know the staff have the chance for their name to be placed on the chalkboard to receive a free meal that day.
Mendocino Farms also participates in plenty of fundraisers and givebacks, with student clubs — including The California Aggie — partnering with the location to help support their cause. The company’s open and collaborative approach to working with outside organizations demonstrates why Mendocino Farms is a great addition to the Davis community.
Mendocino Farms, located at 875 Russell Blvd., Suite 110, is open seven days a week from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Along with other Davis students and residents who show up to support Mendocino Farms, you may just become a new regular to go up on the “Fan of the Day” board.
