Senate Report: New ASUCD Executive team, Senate table take office
The new table approved funding for The Pantry through summer

In the final senate meeting of the 2025-26 school year on June 4, the Associated Students of UC Davis (ASUCD) said farewell to Association President Amrita Julka and Internal Vice President Dhilena Wickramasinghe, alongside other members of the student government.
Before departing the table, Julka gave her final State of the Association address, highlighting the many accomplishments of ASUCD during her time in office. She discussed the over $120,000 given out through Aggie Aid, the installation of five menstrual hygiene dispensers across campus and the launch of free testing for sexually transmitted infections and HIV for students in fall 2026.
“When I was elected, I had one overarching goal from which my policy and leadership this year have grown: to unapologetically fight for what’s right,” Julka said.
Julka closed her speech with a message for future student leaders, referencing the Bitches election slate, which she ran her executive ticket on.
“To our next leaders, I urge you to be a bitch,” Julka said. “Find yourselves, do your goals and fight for them.”
Following Julka’s speech, outgoing Internal Vice President Wickramasinghe gave her farewell address, reminding fellow students about their role and responsibilities as representatives.
“As a student government, everything we do is political,” Wickramasinghe said. “Students rely on the basic services that ASUCD provides because our college education system was not built with the students in mind.”
Wickramasinghe also spoke on the current state of politics and encouraged the Senate to take stances on the issues that matter to them.
“We cannot continue to frame apoliticism and centrism as a form of tolerance,” Wickramasinghe said. “We have to see it for what it is — a lack of a backbone […] The Association and student government is supposed to exist to serve the interests of and advocate for the rights of students and nobody else.”
Farewell addresses were also given by all commission chairs and outgoing senators as well as by 2025-26 ASUCD Controller Trinity Chow, who reminisced on her time as a senator and on her colleagues during her time in the Association.
Following the farewell speeches, ASUCD President-elect and Internal Vice President-elect Luis Garcia and Rosa Linda Martinez were confirmed into their respective roles, along with the incoming senators elected in the spring. Garcia and Martinez ran unopposed after Senator Aaron Heth and Sean Birge dropped their executive ticket bid.
The table also confirmed Genesis Arroyo and Arya Banerjee as interim senators to fill the seats left vacant by graduating Senator Jenna Younes and Martinez. Several other positions, including commission chairs and unit directors, were also filled to replace outgoing and graduating staffers.
The last major agenda item during the meeting was reviewing and passing legislation.
Senate Bill #128 addressed the needs of The Pantry over the break, allocating $4,070.30 toward its summer distribution program. The bill used a majority of the year’s remaining Senate reserves to buy shelf-stable goods, with roughly $700 left in Senate Reserves going back to general reserves.
Senator Nate Little, author of the bill, said the remaining $700 did not go toward The Pantry, as the unit said it could not come up with a potential use for the excess funds.
The meeting was called to order at 6:10 p.m. and adjourned at 10:47 p.m.
What is the ASUCD Senate? As the legislative body of UC Davis’ undergraduate student government, the Senate makes decisions on the use of student funds, oversees units that employ over 1,000 people and makes statements and resolutions on behalf of the student body.
