UC Davis awards Student Employees of the Year
FeaturesApril 21, 2010
It’s noon at the Bargain Barn and a group of employees gather in the break room as Noor Ramy receives her plaque for Student Employee of the Year. Standing next to her co-workers and friends, Ramy, a senior English major, smiles and holds back tears as her supervisor, Katie Jaramillo, takes the floor. “We’ve never had a student employee like Noor … I just wish you could stay forever,” Jaramillo said.

Speed bumps slow down Davis drivers, bikers
FeaturesApril 20, 2010
Bikers and fast drivers dislike them, neighborhoods and parents of small children love them. Speed bumps can be found throughout the city and campus of Davis in order to slow down students and residents to a safe speed. Variations on these concrete speed reducers include the speed hump, speed cushion and the speed table.

Students discuss what it takes to prepare for Picnic Day
FeaturesApril 15, 2010
It is not your imagination – for much of spring quarter, there has literally been music in the air. Four times a week, to be exact. “Picnic Day season for us starts the first day of the quarter,” said Arbel Bedak, the student director of the California Marching Band-Uh!. “We have our usual Monday night rehearsal, but now we have marching practice three days a week.” Band-Uh! will be performing several times throughout Picnic Day, starting with the parade and ending with Battle of the Bands, a multi-school music competition held in the Arboretum.

Nugget Market puts their prices up for challenge
FeaturesApril 15, 2010
Editor’s Note: The California Aggie sent reporter Vanna Le to take the Nugget Market Price Survey, which compares Nugget and competitors’ prices in Davis. Because grocery store prices vary by store and produce prices change rapidly, it’s always difficult to determine which grocery stores actually do maintain low prices. I recently visited the Nugget Market on East Covell Boulevard after hearing about the “Nugget Market Price Survey,” hoping to gain some insight into the world of competitive grocery store pricing.
