Men’s Water Polo: Perfection isn’t easy. If the men’s water polo team wanted to stay perfect in conference play, the Aggies needed to beat Santa Clara and Redlands during the Aggie Shootout last weekend at Schaal Aquatic Center. No. 3 California was also scheduled on the weekend, which didn’t make things any easier.

Women’s Soccer: For thousands of students, coming back to UC Davis gives a great feeling.

It looked like UC Davis had the game won on two separate occasions, yet the Aggies left the game with a 4-3 loss to the Golden Bears.

Cross Country: The men’s and women’s cross country teams traveled to Palo Alto, Calif. Saturday to compete in the Stanford Invitational – a highly regarded meet and a destination point for many top-notch teams in the nation.

On the surface, UC Davis’ 20-6 loss to Weber State is just another game. The Aggies came up short, failing to find the end zone despite a couple strong drives.

While the first half of Saturday night’s game was characterized by solid defense and strong feet from both sides, the Weber State offense broke through in the third quarter for the eventual win.

Coach Jamie Holmes wants the Aggies to be a NCAA Tournament caliber team.

The term “must-win” game has been thrown around so much in sports it’s starting to taste like stale fish. I’m sure the San Francisco Giants had a “must-win” in April against the San Diego Padres. I’m sure every game the Giants have played against the Colorado Rockies is considered a “must-win.”

The Aggies got their first ever Big West Cross Country championship last year in women’s individual champion Sarah Sumpter.

The California Aggie’s fall spotlight team was selected by Aggie sports editor Jason Alpert and Aggie sports writers Grace Sprague, Trevor Cramer and Matt Wang.
