I’ve always felt connected to Maya Angelou. Growing up in the Central Valley with no other “Mayas” around, in elementary school I lived for those moments when Angelou was mentioned in a textbook or by a teacher.

Perhaps it is possible that a person can get high off of a smoky, spicy barbeque sauce that’s glazed over tender beef ribs.
Letter to the Editor: Student groups respond to advertisement
OpinionJune 2, 2011
We as University of California, Davis students involved in a range of groups [e.g. MECHA, SCA, SJP, etc.] are deeply disappointed with The Aggie for printing a paid advertisement titled ‘The Palestinians’ Case Against Israel is Based on Genocidal Lies” last week.

Tuesday article concerning the Davis Anime Club was a touchstone on the part of The Aggie journalism team. For that, I applaud the efforts of all involved.
Column: Time to Change Lenses

My life as a photographer and UC Davis photojournalist began the first day of my junior year, Sept. 24, 2009. I remember how excited I was as I opened the box for my new Canon 40d and mounted on my 17-85mm lens. I had just taken a financial leap and spent all my summer savings for the gear, believing it would provide me the tools to create a future in photography.

The senior American studies major has had an array of internships in public relations and sports marketing, including a summer internship with the National Football League. Part of his impressive resume can be attributed to the professional social networking website.

OpinionMay 31, 2011
I must inform you that the advertisement in The Aggie on Thursday titled “The Palestinians’ Case Against Israel is Based on a Genocidal Lie” has two major flaws which make it very suspicious. First, it is written in a style of extreme propaganda. Second, its content is a denial of a human rights violation.

Letter from the Editor: David Horowitz’s advertisement
OpinionMay 31, 2011
On Thursday, a paid advertisement titled “The Palestinians’ Case Against Israel is Based on a Genocidal Lie” was printed on page seven of The California Aggie. As editor in chief of The Aggie, a part of my job is to act as the final filter of all advertisements. Put simply, if I deem an ad to be unprintable, it will not be published.
Column: In conclusion …

In my column this year, I took a few positions that seemed less than popular with a college audience. Two in particular stand out: keeping tax cuts for the rich at the federal level and opposing the proposed tax extensions in the state of California (which almost certainly means higher tuition rates for you and me).
