I, as well as many of my peers, do appreciate the e-mail detailing the situation. We understand the dire situation in California at the current moment. May God help California through this difficult time and reinstate it into a beacon of hope for many around the world. We understand that we are not the only ones suffering from the present economic difficulties. There are too many people without jobs, too many people losing their homes, and too many businesses barely getting by – if not going out of business entirely.

I’m no good at Halloween. My costumes are usually lackluster, and my adventures are nothing to boast of – nothing that wouldn’t happen on an average Saturday. This past Halloween, however, I made it a point to change all of that for you, my readers.

Do you ever have an urge to do something or go somewhere so much it’s all you think about? It’s a feeling many people have and it can consume your entire being until you’re satisfied. I have this feeling sometimes, but it’s usually when I want that new pair of jeans or boots. But this time it was different.

So after months of anticipation (okay, maybe days) and hours of mental preparation (all right, probably not), I finally made my way over to the Regal Davis Holiday 6 to watch the long awaited (fine, I’ll stop lying) movie Where The Wild Things Are.

My boyfriend once asked me, “Do mermaids have swim bladders?” I didn’t think so, but my mermaid biology is a bit shaky. Do mermaids carry live young or lay eggs? They appear to have mammary glands, yet the naughty bits are on the fish half. Do mermaids have sex, or do the mermen just swim by and spray sperm on the mereggs? No wonder Ariel wanted to be human.

I’m leaning up against the main double doors of SciLec. Some nutrition professor is rambling on about fish or something, and I’m on the precipice of exploding with excitement – and it’s not about the omega-3’s in rainbow trout. No, I’m barbarically salivating over the seat that’s going to open up when she’s finished babbling: the most coveted of all the seats in SciLec for a huge, left-handed guy.

It’s hard finding someone to date. You hyperventilate and get all panicky when the person you’re interested in merely smiles at you. How the hell are you supposed to muster up the courage to ask him or her to dinner, let alone form a complete sentence? Then there’s that chance he or she might crush you and say no – and no one wants that.
