Letters to the Editor

OpinionNovember 12, 2009
As a former California Aggie staff writer, I found Sarah Kohgadai’s column on Tuesday to be particularly haphazard, irrelevant and distasteful.

Editorial: ASUCD elections

OpinionNovember 10, 2009
ASUCD senate elections begin at 8 a.m. on the elections website (elections.ucdavis.edu).

Editorial: Freshman seminars

OpinionNovember 10, 2009
The Undergraduate Studies office recently asked freshman seminar instructors if they would be willing to forgo or reduce their stipends.

Column: Old Fartese Tuesdays

OpinionNovember 10, 2009
When people get old, they automatically develop a new accent that I like to call Old Fartese. There’s no explanation for how it happens. Some say once you hit 60, your voice box turns into the shape of an all-you-can-eat buffet or a rice-pudding mold, but who can be sure?

Column: Big Bryd

OpinionNovember 10, 2009
Robert Byrd is a member of the United States senate. He’s pretty notable, and not just because he was born in 1917 and is still alive. Serving since 1953, Byrd is the longest serving senator in history. Byrd has also been Dean of the Senate since 2003. In 1942, he was part of the Ku Klux Klan.

Column: Honoring those who serve

OpinionNovember 10, 2009
Veterans Day only appears to have a special meaning this year, but it has a special meaning every year. The atrocity that occurred at Fort Hood last week, and the murders that took place there will be rightly first on the minds of Americans honoring this day. What must not be lost though, is our respect of all who have served this country in the armed services. Veteran’s Day has a special meaning every year.

Column: Not only you and me

You must have been living under a rock if you haven’t heard the latest from my girl Britney Spears. Her new single, simply called \

Column: Tayloring our music

OpinionNovember 6, 2009
All right, I’ll admit it. This past weekend, I not only had “You Belong With Me” by Taylor Swift replaying on my iPod, but I also had it on my laptop while simultaneously replaying the music video on YouTube. (Okay, that might have been TMI, but seriously, it’s a cute video). If I weren’t so lazy about uploading songs to my cell phone, then trust me, it would’ve been replaying on there, too.

Column: Dressing up as Superman

OpinionNovember 6, 2009
It’s Halloween, and since our pre-game has lasted until 1:30 a.m. after all the parties have been broken up, this would technically qualify as show time: Vanna and I drinking leftover beers on her dining room table talking about 500 Days of Summer. \

Column: Obama’s body politics

OpinionNovember 5, 2009
When you combine misogyny and capitalism, you get our current cultural climate: being obsessed with the female body. How much it weighs, how wrinkly it is, how tightened, toned and tanned it is, whether or not the hair on it is \

Editorial: ‘Project You Can’

OpinionNovember 5, 2009
Last week, University of California President Mark Yudof promised thousands of high school students in Fresno that attending a UC is both affordable and possible.
