Walking the greens of the NCAA Division I Women’s Golf West Regional, UC Davis wasn’t just happy to be there. But there were so many reasons why they should’ve been.

Making its first appearance at the Dad Vail Regatta in Philadelphia, Pa. since taking third in the 2004 grand final, the UC Davis women’s rowing team made its return known. “We wanted to focus on our race plan and not everybody else,” said head coach Carissa Adams. “We felt if we could execute our race place then we could win.”

Women’s rowing Onehundred and twenty-seven universities will take to theSchuylkillRiver inPennsylvania today and Saturdayfor the Dad Vail Regatta.

Name it, she’s done it. From coaching volleyball for 10 years to being at the helm of the softball team for 26 years to building the women’s golf program from the ground up, Kathy DeYoung has accomplished it all as part of a rich UC Davis athletic tradition.

In the young world of intercollegiate kendo competition, other schools will have to watch out for the rising dragon of UC Davis. In just the third tournament appearance in program history,the Aggies took first place Apr.27 at the 12th Annual Harvard-Invitational Shoryuhai Intercollegiate Kendo Tournament, thenation’s most prestigious club kendo event.
