Column: Bang, zoom – to the moon!

OpinionNovember 30, 2009
Have you ever had a really great idea you just can’t stop thinking about? Well, I sure do. Here it is: terraforming the moon. Every time I read about some foolhardy, quasi-scientific endeavor, I bang my spoon on the table in unparalleled fury. Don’t these people know they could be engineering a renewable atmosphere on the moon right now? The earth isn’t going to last forever!

I await this event all year. No, I’m not talking about Shark Week (the greatest seven days of the year, mind you). I’m talking about Thanksgiving. The day American families come together, give thanks and collectively strengthen our reputation for being obese. Not a terrible way to spend a day, right?

We’ve all been there. You have the outfit, the shoes, but no date. So what do you do? Do you ask the guy you’ve been eyeing in your CMN [enter three digit number here] class to get coffee? Do you make a drunken fool of yourself at the bars in hopes someone will notice you? Or do you make your Facebook status say, \

I was pretty fucking lazy this week, so instead of writing a long-ass story that’s too difficult to comprehend, I wrote an ADHD version for all you out there who have an attention span of a goldfish – three seconds.

University of California students up and down the state were playing bongos, singing, protesting, picketing, rioting, getting arrested and some were even tasered late last week.

Budget shortfall impacted by online purchases Editor, I sympathize with UC students and understand their need to protest the continued fee hikes for what is supposed to be a “public” education. I cannot, however, help but notice the irony in the $150 million budget shortfall figure. According to the California State Board of Equalization, our […]

It is an awful time to be a student in California. UC students are getting a large dose of reality from the 32 percent increase in tuition. The student protests are a manifestation of the anger and pain felt by all students who now must pay more for a lesser education. I have a question for the protestors, though: What did you expect?

In a budding relationship, there are three important firsts: The first time you have sex, the first time you have good sex and the first time your good sex life dwindles into a lull.

OpinionNovember 23, 2009
The roar emanating from the MU patio on Wednesday is best summed up as “Rabble, rabble, rabble!” It’s not a mob protesting the evil machinations of our regents. It’s not a frenzy incited by false cries of “Tube sock madness!”

As the release date of The Twilight Saga: New Moon movie draws nearer, so does the excitement (and delusion) of crazy fangirls (and guys). I swear, the anticipation can be heard all over campus.
