CD Review: Neon Indian

Neon Indian

Psychic Chasms EP

Lefse

Rating: 3

Neon Indian brings a new style of electro-pop music to the digital age with their debut album, Psychic Chasms. The band is the latest creation from Alan Palomo, who is also the mastermind behind the electronic project VEGA.

If you like Daft Punk to any degree, you’ll enjoy this album. Psychic Chasms exudes with trippy ’80s keyboards, synth-based pop, electric guitars and hazy retro effects. It all begins with a short interlude entitled “(AM),” which foreshadows a track list loaded with synth arpeggios fused with catchy video-game effects. Spacey tracks like “Local Joke” will transcend you through euphoric moments that just ooze with Italian disco and sun-baked vocals.

It’s the perfect blend of fun-loving bedroom electro-pop that will leave you emotionally zoned-out for days – which is always necessary.

Give these tracks a listen: “Local Joke,” “Terminally Chill”

For fans of: Daft Punk, VEGA
