ASUCD Senate meetings are scheduled to begin Thursdays at 6:10 p.m. Times listed are according to the clock at the Feb. 3 meeting location, the Memorial Union’s Mee Room.

Jeremy Koo announced his retirement from ASUCD court.

Appointments and Confirmations

Jessica Jaswal and Ali Huda were confirmed to the Academic Affairs Commission.

Sergio Cano was confirmed as chair of the Elections Committee.

Sarah Nguyen was confirmed as director of the Experimental College.

Unit director reports

KVDS general manager Neil Rudd reported that KDVS has experienced more volunteers than last quarter. Their fundraiser starts two days after Picnic Day. There is a new website for a record label and they will be able to sell products online soon

Consideration of urgent legislation

An Urgent Bill authored by Zachary Hansen, co-authored by Bush, Joey Chen, Amy Martin, Ryan Meyerhoff, Provencher and Walz and introduced by Bush, to add a legislative ballot measure to the ASUCD Winter 2011 Election Ballot, passed with an 8-2-2 vote. If the measure passes, it will create a board of students to oversee the student initiative funds that go to intercollegiate athletics.

Consideration of old legislation

Senate Bill 34, authored by Sabastian Belser, co-authored by Lee, Provencher, Bree Rombi and Thongsavat and introduced by Lee, to allocate $45,839.00 from Capital Reserves to purchase one 2011 Ford E350 12-passenger, compressed natural gas (CNG) van for STS/Tipsy Taxi, passed unanimously.

Senate Bill 40, authored by Christine Sifferman, co-authored by Andrea Abergel, Aaron Hsu and Lee and introduced by Andre Lee, to allow confirmations to be promptly posted on the ASUCD website, passed unanimously.

Senate Bill 42, authored by Ruud, co-authored by Arce and Rudy Ornelas and introduced by Arce, to allocate $3,863 from Capital Reserves to renovate and repair electrical equipment required by the university fire department, passed unanimously.

Senate Bill 43, authored by Sifferman, co-authored by Abergel, Hsu and Lee and introduced by Andre Lee, to allow legislation to be readily available to senators, passed unanimously.

Public Discussion

Lee said all job postings for ASUCD are up on the ASUCD bulletin board in the MU.

Bush said The Pantry is doing better than expected and is actually thriving.

Diaz-Ordaz announced that Financial Aid Awareness Week will take place Feb. 8 to10.

Sabrina Diaz said Housing Day is on Feb 10.
