UC Davis in the running to host world movie premiere

An online contest for colleges and universities to host the world premiere of the upcoming film Your Highness, starring James Franco and Natalie Portman, is currently underway. The college that receives the most votes will host the movie’s world premiere on its campus, complete with cast appearances and an after-party. Second- through sixth-place winners will win a free advanced screening of the movie.

UC Davis climbed approximately six places over the weekend and currently holds 21st spot with 2,150 votes. Rutgers University is in the lead with 8,560 votes. Go to eventful.com or the Facebook group “Help Bring Your Highness (movie) to UC Davis” to vote.

Voting ends March 21.

Headline: Auditions to be held for Studio 301’s ‘Julius Caesar’

Actors itching to show off their chops next quarter are invited to audition for student-run theater group Studio 301’s spring production, Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar.

“I’m looking for committed and, most importantly, enthusiastic actors who are willing to take risks and have fun on the stage,” said director Michael Lutheran.

Auditions will be held tomorrow from 6 to 11 p.m. in 101 Wright Hal. Auditioners are asked to prepare a one- to two-minute dramatic Shakespeare monologue and bring a headshot, resume and their spring quarter schedule. If you do not have a monologue prepared, one will be provided for you. All who are interested are encouraged to try out.
