Women’s Gymnastics Preview

Teams: UC Davis vs. Seattle Pacific

Record: Aggies, 8-6; Falcons, 1-10

Where: The Pavilion

When: Friday at 7 p.m.

Who to watch: It’s safe to say senior Marcy Miller has had a phenomenal season.

Not only has she broken numerous personal records, she has also been awarded four Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Gymnast of the Week honors this year. Just two weeks ago, Miller achieved her lifetime best all-around score of 38.825.

According to Miller, one of the things that motivate her is the energy from the crowd.

Did you know? One of the Aggies’ preseason goals was to qualify for the NCAA Regionals. Currently, Miller, seniors Stacey Nicolini and Jessica Rea, junior Erika Van Dyke, sophomore Michelle Ho and freshman Anna Shumaker all have season scores that could take them to NCAA Regionals.

Preview: On Friday night, the UC Davis gymnasts will be suiting up for their last home meet of the season. For the seniors, this will be the last time they compete as Aggies together.

Coach John Lavallee said he is very much looking forward to Senior Night.

“All the seniors have had good seasons,” Lavallee said. “They will all be very, very fun to watch this Friday.”

Senior Night is only half of the story Friday night – it’s also a critical conference dual.

UC Davis has competed against MPSF rival Seattle Pacific two times already this season, winning both of the meets. However, these victories do not deter the Aggies from bringing forth their best game on Friday.

“Seattle Pacific has long been a rival of UC Davis,” Lavallee said. “They have a good coach and come to every meet very well prepared. We know that we have to perform well when they come to town.”

Lavallee encourages all Aggie fans to come out and watch the last home meet of the season.

“We’ve got an exciting team, and this will be an exciting event,” Lavallee said. “We’d love to see a big home crowd send out seniors off.”
