Women’s Lacrosse preview

Teams: UC Davis at Saint Mary’s

Records: Aggies 1-0 (1-0); Gaels 0-1 (0-1)

Where: Saint Mary’s Stadium — Moraga, Calif.

When: Today at 7 p.m.

Who to Watch: Sophomore goalkeeper Jordan Majka will be looking to provide a steady presence in the goal for the Aggies this season.

The Lake Forest, Ill. native tallied eight saves in UC Davis’ season opening victory over San Diego State last week.

Did you know? Thursday’s game against Saint Mary’s will have a little extra meaning for UC Davis senior Laura Sunday, whose sister Rachel is a sophomore defender for the Gaels.

Laura Sunday started in the Aggies’ win over San Diego State last week.

Preview: After kicking off conference play in their season-opener last week, the Aggies will play their final Mountain Pacific Sports Federation game of the season for over a month on Thursday.

Following their match-up with Saint Mary’s, UC Davis will play eight non-conference games before it faces MPSF foe California Apr. 4.

The Aggies know that facing the Gaels is never an easy task, and to get a result this time, coach Elaine Jones knows the team will have to keep its head in the game.

“We have to stay focused and follow the game plan,” she said.

And even after a convincing 18-7 win over San Diego State last week, Jones believes the Aggies still have things they can work on this week.

“There are always improvements we need to make,” Jones said. “We’ll continue to improve out defense. I always expect a good game against Saint Mary’s.”
