Teams: UC Davis vs. UC San Diego
Records: Aggies, 9-12; Tritons, 9-10
Where: Marya Welch Tennis Center
When: Today at 2 p.m.
Who to watch: Never mind Gatorade to keep cool – Tyler Lee has ice in his veins.
Last weekend the sophomore was unshaken by the Aggies’ two-straight losses and managed to capture three-straight individual victories, two of which required tie breakers to complete.
Did you know: UC Davis will be the second Big West Conference opponent UCSD has faced this year.
In the Tritons’ season opener, they traveled to UC Riverside and upset the Highlanders, 6-1.
Preview: To conclude its first Division I regular season in program history, UC Davis will face, ironically, a Division II team when it hosts UCSD this afternoon.
Both teams are riding a two-match losing streak. Most recently, the Tritons fell to Cal Baptist, 5-4, on Tuesday, and the Aggies lost to UC Irvine in Big West action, 5-2.
Friday’s match-up against UCSD will be the final home matches for three Aggie seniors: Henri Landes, Daniel Elefant and Justin Garcia.
“We want to finish as winners,” Landes said.
In the two teams’ last meeting on Apr. 21, 2006, UCSD went on the road to edge UC Davis, 4-3.
Aiming for redemption, the Aggies will hope to earn a victory before the Big West Tournament, which begins on Apr. 25 in Palm Springs, Calif.
