Hello. How 'bout that ride in? I guess that's why they call it Sin City. Wait, wrong opener.

Happy hump day, my fellow Aggies! Now that we're all settled into our classes and gearing up for midterms, I hope to give you some relief from your books (well, at least for the time it takes you to read this column). We'll be delving into the sexual, relational and hopefully comical adventures of my life as a UC Davis senior (wow! When did that happen?). I never really imagined I would be writing a column - let alone a sex-related column for a newspaper that's read by thousands of people everyday - but here I am, excited, and ready!

Greetings Aggie students, staff and random family members I know will stalk my columns via The Aggie website. I imagine most of you are probably wondering who I am and why the heck I deserve to have my own little place in the paper once a week. Well, my dream answer would go something along the lines of me being awesome, how I beat out 3,000 other applicants (one of which was the nephew of the Dalai Lama) and how I dropped out of Olympic pole dancer training JUST to pursue a career at The California Aggie.

The Large Hadron Collider, iPods, Snuggies. Recent years have brought about many glorious inventions. My favorite invention, however, wasn't created by an international team of scientists or a corporation. It was born on the UC Davis campus.

ASUCD elections

It's clear just by checking Facebook that ASUCD Senate campaigning has begun.

With a university as old as UC Davis, traditions are bound to come and go. Some last only a few years; others are as...

Guest opinion:

A letter addressed to the D-Q Board of Trustees has recently been circulated throughout the community. The letter was written by Pat Wright in support of her husband, Bill Wright (Wintun/Patwin) and his perceived role as an "Indian doctor" at D-Q University.

There's a difference between telling the truth and truth-telling. I know the difference. People who accuse me of lying don't know the difference. It's the difference between "telling the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth so help you God," and telling only part of the truth that serves you.

Someone messed up.

Okay, so I'm not actually calling upon people to leave civility, manners and respect of others on the wayside. These traits should all be observed in relations with other people we interact with on a daily basis. Mutual respect and tolerance for others and their ideas is a foundation of our civil society.

Year after year, a new pool of wide-eyed freshmen flood campus in search of new experiences - or maybe just for where their next class is. Two years ago, I was one of them. Having memorized the campus map and outlined my class-to-class routes beforehand, I concentrated on these new experiences.

Who am I? The school tells me I'm a senior, but I'm a freshman at heart. I'm stuck in that phase of wide-eyed wonder as I discover the world is nothing like I thought it was. Fortunately for you readers, these discoveries are often the result of my extravagant and (to the third-party observer) hilarious screw-ups. As the demotivational poster says, "It could be that the purpose of your life is only to serve as a warning to others." So gather round, kids, and learn from Grandma Beth's haphazard stumble through this thing we call life.

Editorial: ‘Full funding’ needs to be defined

In case you've been living under a rock, California is in the midst of a bit of a budget crisis.

Editorial: Textbook returns

This year, the UC Davis Bookstore decided to implement a 10 percent restocking fee for returned textbooks, much to the surprise of the student body.
