Honorable mention: Liliana Alvarez

Not many freshmen athletes can boast that they have competed in the swimming NCAA championships. Freshman and San Francisco native Liliana Alvarez can excuse herself from this group.

Alvarez capped off an impressive freshman campaign by finished 23rd in the nation in the 100-breaststroke at the NCAA Championships. Alvarez became just the second Aggie to compete at the national championships.

Alvarez concludes her debut season with UC Davis as the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Freshman of the Year after winning the individual titles in the 100 and 200-breaststroke and helping the 400-medley relay team to a conference title.

Alvarez’s strong swimming began with UC Davis’ first meet of the season, winning one of the two meets she participated in.
