The California Aggie is an entirely student-run and independent publication. The Aggie publishes every day online and produces one print edition each week. Without a journalism program at UC Davis, The Aggie is the best hands-on experience for students interested in journalism, reporting and other aspects of newspaper design and production.

Chris Ponce is currently serving as the editor-in-chief of The California Aggie. Before this, he was the city news editor for two years and a city news staff writer. His favorite thing about Davis is the close-knit local community.

Alyssa is currently serving as the managing editor of The California Aggie. Before this, she was a copy chief and copy reader for The Aggie. When she’s not editing articles for the next issue, she spends her day reading fantasy novels, watching tennis matches and listening to Gracie Abrams.

Jenna is currently serving as the photo director for The California Aggie. Before this, she worked as a photographer for a year. When she’s not taking photos, she loves listening to Fleetwood Mac, reading philosophy books and baking chocolate crinkle cookies.
Aaron Potter
Website Manager (he/him/his)
Aaron is currently serving as the website manager for The California Aggie. Other than posting articles, he spends his time playing music, writing songs, and desperately searching for which line of code he has to fix before turning in an assignment in 30 minutes.
Tiffany He
Copy Chief (she/her/hers)
Tiffany He is currently serving as a Co-Copy Chief for The California Aggie. Before this, she was a copy reader. When she’s not editing articles, she’s probably curating a Spotify playlist.
Lanhui Zhen
Design Director (she/her/hers)
Lanhui Zhen is currently serving as the Design Director of The California Aggie. Before this, she worked as a cartoonist for one year and as a layout artist for two quarters at the Aggie. When Lanhui is not drawing graphics for the next issue and designing advertisements, she enjoys hanging out with family and friends, sketching from life, and going to museums.

Joanne is currently serving as the social media manager for The California Aggie. Before this, she was a graphic designer for The Aggie. When she’s not creating and scheduling social media posts, you can find her thrifting with her friends, making jewelry, and collecting little trinkets.

Jenny Dye is currently serving as the Co-Copy Chief for The California Aggie. Before this, she was a copy chief and copy reader for The Aggie. Jenny’s favorite thing about Davis is all of the beautiful nature spots.
Ariana Noble
Layout Director (she/her/hers)
Ariana Noble is currently serving as the Layout Director of The California Aggie. Before this, she worked as a layout artist for The Aggie for two years. When Ariana isn’t working in InDesign, she enjoys hiking, concerts, and binging shows.
Cassidy Gillis
Distribution and Outreach Director (she/her/hers)
Cassidy Gillis is currently serving her second year as the Distribution and Outreach Director. Before this she was a layout artist for the Aggie for two years. When she’s not delivering papers she likes to ski, mountain bike, raft, and bake lots and lots of cookies.
Ileana Monserrat Meraz
Translation Director (she/her/hers)
Ileana Meraz is a Bay Area native and current senior writing as one of your directors of Translation this year. Before the Aggie Ileana was a lead food pantry ambassador for her community college which inspired her to advocate for underserved communities. When Ileana isn’t writing up her next translation or studying for the LSAT and applying for law school she’s working out, cooking/baking something new or watching her new favorite show!
Samuel Ruiz
Translation Director (he/him/his)
Sam is currently serving as a Translation Director for The California Aggie. Before this, he was an office assistant for a year and a half. When he’s not translating articles for the next issue, he is probably somewhere listening to music, watching Warriors games, or looking for someone to play ping pong with
