Who to watch: Freshman Austin Graham carded a team-best 4-under-206 at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic on Apr. 7 and 8.
The score slotted the San Clemente High School product at a tie for ninth-best overall score at the invitational. For the year, Graham is averaging a 73 per round with two top-ten finishes.
Did you know? Records are meant to be broken. Sometimes, they are meant to be tied.
Junior Nate Pistacchio tied a school record in his last outing with a 65 at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic.
Preview: The UC Davis golf team looked at home in the Cowboy State, winning its first tournament of the season with a 7-under-833 team score.
For the Aggies, it was their first tournament victory since last year when they won the same tournament at the Talking Stick Golf Club.
“We played just awesome in the middle and towards the end of the round,” head coach Cy Williams said. “We were really hitting great shots and playing very well.”
The Aggies must continue to play well to top the competition at this weekend’s tournament at the par-70 6,835-yard course on the Stanford campus.
Originally designed in 1930, the Stanford Golf Course is located in the foothills above the university and is consistently rated one of the top golf courses in the country.
The 17-team-field features seven teams ranked in the top 50 in the nation, including No. 3 UCLA, No. 5 USC, No. 11 Stanford and No. 20 ASU.
Last year, host Stanford shared first-place honors with Minnesota, both carding 838 over the three rounds.
