UC Davis loves beating Sacramento State, no matter the sport.
TheAggiewomen’s rowing team won four out of five races against their rivals from across the Causeway to win the Jean Runyon Cup for the second-straight year.
The Aggies jumped out to an early lead after the first race and never looked back as the UC Davis varsity eight cruised to victory over the Hornets by a margin of nearly11seconds.
The Aggies pushed their record to an impressive6-0for the spring to remainunbeaten at thePort ofSacramento this year.
The battle between the two squads was the finalmatchup of the2007-2008Causeway Cup,the yearlong competition between the two schools‘ athletic teams.The Aggies clinched the cup back in March,butthe rowing team’s victory on Saturday pushed UC Davis‘ total to67.5points toSacramentoState’s37.5.
The team now turns its attention to the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships atLakeNatoma on Saturday and Sunday.Over30different programs across all three NCAA divisions will be taking the water.
