Google Transit comes to Davis

On Apr.15, Davis joined 51 other cities and regions worldwide using Google Transit to aid in the promulgation of public transportation.

The move to Google Transit was initiated by Unitrans earlier this year. A schedule was submitted to Google through the Sacramento Regional Transit Authorityin March to include the city of Davis in the free program.

‘Hate crimes’ target Jewish, LGBT students

Juarez said the purpose of the program advertised on the poster swas to "celebrate intersecting identities." The program was intended to be a safe, comfortable place with expressing two different identities that are not always permitted in the same environment,he said.

"But the fact that the posters were torn down added an element of hostility," he said.

Spring Wellness Extravaganza to be held today on the Quad

The first annual Spring Wellness Extravaganza takes place today on the Quad. Hosted by Cowell Student Health Center's Health Education and Promotion, in conjunction with the East Quad Farmer's Market, the event will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and be accompanied by 14 other campus organizations.

In the May 2 issue of The California Aggie,the article "UCD researchers aim to shed light on eruption frequency" states thatMt.Tambora had a major eruption in1812that had a devastating effect onNorthern Europe.This is incorrect.The volcano reached its seismological peak in1812,with a series of small eruptions.The major eruption,which led to what would be known as "The year without summer," occurred in1815.The Aggie regrets the error.

Trayless Tuesdays may save water and food

An event that began as a celebration of Earth Day is becoming a tradition in UC Davis dining commons. Trayless Tuesdays, where diners cannot use trays for their plates and glasses, began Apr. 22, and will continue for the rest of the year.

Former UC Davis student diesduring weekend fencing tournament

A beautiful day at the beach took a tragic turn for the UC Davis fencing team. Calvin Hau, a former UC Davis student who continued to practice with the club, died at Pismo Beach on Apr. 27 after complaining of chest pains. He was 24.

Hawaii club throws eighth annual Luau

The Na Keiki O Hawaii conducted itseighth annual luau, Na Hiohi'ona Paeaina, which translates to "the elements of the island," May 2 in Freeborn Hall.

The luau is the club's most important event of the year. This year's luau was the first to be completely choreographed by club members,said Brie-anna Rojas, club publicity officer.

Proposed ruling gives UC nurses right to strike

A ruling proposed in April by the California Public Employee Relations Board gives the California Nurses Association the right to strike if the University of California is determined not to bargain in good faith.
