The last time I wrote one of these, I was sitting on my bed in my dorm room in Emerson Hall. A fire alarm was probably going off that I was ignoring and my roomie was probably singing to Backstreet Boys as she put on makeup to go out.

Everyday at UC Davis, students unknowingly mention the names of people influential to the campus. When a student says they have class at Wellman Hall, they are paying homage to the 13th president of the University of California. Likewise, every time a student says they have to study at Peter J. Shields Library they are honoring the founder of UC Davis.

Yesterday, UC Davis students staged their own version of Michael Jackson's iconic song-and-dance number "Thriller;" only this time, it wasn't Michael Jackson in the red leather jacket.
It was 60 percent humidity. Water dripped down the walls of the building with an abundance of plants from all around the world. A loud noise reverberated within the room, sounding like something that could easily pass for a velociraptor. No, this wasn't Jurassic Park. It was the third floor of the Sciences Laboratory building in UC Davis' campus teaching greenhouse.

UC Davis has always been known as a bike-friendly campus. What is less known, however, is that the campus is also friendly to the disabled community. Wheelchair users as well as blind students said that in general, the campus has few physical barriers that make getting around difficult. Nevertheless, they report that additional changes and a more educated community are necessary to make the campus even more accommodating to disabled students.
