New research center comes to UC Davis

UC Davis officials have released the concept for the uHub, a conglomerate of virtual and physical research units, that has become the product of the many proposed ideas received from constituencies, after a request for innovation hub concept proposals were issued last February.

News-in-Brief: Affirmative action-like Senate Bill 185 vetoed

On Oct. 8, Gov. Jerry Brown vetoed Senate Bill 185, which would allow UC and CSU admissions officers to consider students' race, gender and ethnicity when accepting and rejecting potential students. This bill would have overruled Proposition 209, passed in 1996, which denies admission officers the right to consider race, gender and ethnicity. Brown said that while he agreed with the idea of the legislation, he could not give his signature. \

New Starbucks to open at the Silo

A new Starbucks Coffee could be open on the UC Davis campus by the end of this week. Starbucks will be replacing Brenan's Coffee, located in the Silo. The new Starbucks will be similar to the location at the Activities and Recreation Center (ARC), and will have coffee drinks, sandwiches and other foods.
